The thesis has a detailed collection and analysis on the theme, structure artistry, singing style and characteristics of the five major tunes in south Shandong province based on the vertical analysis of the regional environment and era background of the five tunes. The aim is to discuss and explore the research value and practical significance of the five tunes with the view of protecting excellent folk singing arts. With her own artistic accomplishment, the author looks up more information, visits some experts and has an analysis and comparison. The thesis is intended to make people know the artistic features of the five major tunes in south Shandong province and provide some beneficial help for the modern folk non-matter cultural heritage protection and the folk art inheritance.There are six parts in this thesis. The first part makes the social background analysis of five major tunes in south Shandong province. The second part introduces the contents features of the five major tunes. In the third part, the structure artistry of the five major tunes is illustrated. The fourth part concentrates on the singing style and distinctiveness of the five major tunes. In the fifth part, practical significance and future expectation of the five major tunes are described. The last part functions as a conclusion of the whole thesis.The author puts emphasis on the second, third and fourth part of thesis. On the base of analyzing the historical background of the five major tunes, the author mainly analyzes the contents of the five tunes and the reasons why they could be so popular as an art of the folk music at that time. It is the colorful lyric and its close relation to people's life that makes the five tunes popular. Meanwhile, as times on, the contents and scope of the lyric become better and more colorful continuously, therefore, the lyric of the five tunes forms its own features of being graceful, vivid and exquisite. In addition, the lyric also immits the local language , which is deeply accepted by the local people. Generally speaking, the contents have two aspects, scene and emotion, of which emotion takes up the most.On the other hand, the structure of the five tunes has apparent distinctiveness. It is mainly divided into two parts, main musical form and nip musical form, which have depended with each other, making the lyric structure intergraded, changeable and uniform.The fourth part mainly expatiates on the style and characteristics of the five tunes. There are two styles of the five tunes, sit sing and group sing. The accompaniment method is also very flexible, singing while playing; especially some daily necessities such as dishes, cups and bowls are rapped. It is a kind of self-entertainment singing characteristic. Meanwhile, in the melody, the five major tunes have the characteristics of less words, more aria and "one word, three sighs" style.The writing purpose of this thesis is to use and application, which is also the initial idea of the author. The research and organization on the distribution, spreading, evolution and the theme style of the five tunes play an important role on inheriting and developing folk music in south Shandong province, especially in the modern time when we pay great attention to the folk art protection.
