| The Guangzhou Uprising in 1927 exerts some influence in the history of theCommunist Party of China and the history of Chinese revolution. Because of the greatdisparity in strength between our party and the enemy, and the mistakes in thedecision of the leaders, this uprising quickly suffered defeat. However, at that time itmade some effect for the Chinese Communist Party to extend political influence andfound the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army and was regarded as an exampleto the constant summing-up of experiences and lessons. This uprising has madeindelible tracks in the history of Chinese revolution. After the Guangzhou Uprising in 1927 was defeated, the communists helddiscussions on it for many times, summed up the experiences and draw the lessonsfrom the defeat of this uprising. Part One of this essay summarizes that after thedefeat of this uprising the CPC sent Li Lisan, Deng Zhongxia and Zhou Enlai toGuangdong to deal with the aftermath of the uprising and initially summed up theexperiences and draw the lessons. After giving a general elaborating on the discussions on the defeat of theGuangzhou Uprising held in 1928 at the meetings of the Communist International andthe Sixth National Congress of the CPC, Part Two of the essay points out that theultimate cause of the defeat was that the communists didn't get a clear understand ofthe Chinese revolutionary situation at that time, and merely copied the experience ofthe October Revolution to initially capture big cities. And after summarizing the discussions on the defeat of this uprising held by the leaders of the CPC during the Yan'an rectification movement in 1944 and later, PartThree points out that the direct cause of heavy losses of the insurrectionary army wasthe main leaders didn't accept the suggestion on transferring troops to Hai Lu Fengrevolutionary base area instead of believing what said by Newman, the delegate to theCommunist International, to take the offensive, not to withdraw, and further points outthat the Putschism reached the peak from the Guangzhou Uprising in 1927 to thespring of 1928.After the defeat of the Guangzhou Uprising, the communists did theself-examination on this incident over and over again, that made valuablecontributions for the CPC to seek for the correct road of Chinese revolution and reacha common cognition of it. |
