Zhao Changqing, a member of the royal clan, whose assumed name (hao in Chinese) is Xianyuan Jushi, was born in in Nanfeng,Jiangxi province. Zhao Changqing's work is named Xixiang Yuefu(namely, the collection of ci poems). As a disputed ci poet from the royal clan in Song Dynasty(960-1279),he who wrote 339 ci poems, ranked the fifth in number among the ci poets in Song Dynasty left little materials about his life experience. However only a few of his ci poems are chosen in famous collections of ci poems, what's more, few scholars study his works and set a high value on his ci poems. It's really a strange phenomena worth noticing. The introduction to the thesis will first do a textual research on the exact years when he lived on the basis of the present materials and his works which supplies some proofs. The times when he lived were between the end of Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127)and the beginning of Southern Song Dynasty(1127-1279).He passed through four emperors who are Emperor Huizong(1101-1125),Emperor Qinzong(1126-1127) of North Song Dynasty , Emperor Gaozong(1127-1162) and Emperor Xiaozong (1162-1189)Song Dynasty in all his life.In contrast with other ci poets,he lived a little later than the celebrated ci poets Zhou Bangyan and Li Qingzhao, but earlier than another great ci poet Xin Qiji. Then, the thesis will analyze the whole present study on his ci poems. The reason why his ci poems were treated coldly by liturature history,ci history and collection of ci poems lies in the following three facts in my opinion.First, his ci poems are not up to the standard of the main trend of liturature history.Second there are deeply contradictory between his thought and the need of the times when he lived.Thirdly,Zhao Changqing"insists on the idea of the traditional function of ci poems."Chapterâ… :the Classification of Zhao Changqing's Ci PoemsHis ci poems can be divided into three types according to the content. The first type is ci poems singing of the time and seasons. Xixiang Yuefu is classified and compiled according to four seasons ,that is the poems of Spring,Summer,Autumn and Winter. The second type is the ci poems singing of many flowers, especially wintersweet. These two types are the main content of his ci poems.Besides,he also wrote some ci poems about birthday, love, farewell and expressing will.Chapterâ…¡:The Style of his Ci PoemsRfefined ci poems and popular ci poems are two aspects of the artistic characteristics of his ci poems.Zhao Changqing drew on the experience of the style of the famous former ci poets such as Liu Yong,Su Shi and Li Qingzhao, losing his own clear characteristics, which is the reason for low remarks. He also pay attention to the change of forms,e.g.he often wrote a series of poems using the same poems. He also chose the common ci tunes and learned from the folk art forms actively.Chapterâ…¢:Transitional Form between Liu Yong's ci and QuZhao Changqing inherited the art form of the popular ci poems of Liu Yong,Huang Tingjian and Qin Guan. His ci poems full of dialect and slang are like Yuan qu poems in style, for he used words and form from Guzi ci and Zhu Gongdiao tunes, which makes his ci poems incline the tendency of qu poems. Conclusion: From above,we can draw a conclusion that Zhao Changqing's ci poems are commom and lack of his own style, compared to the wellknown ci poets such as Liu Yong,Su Shi,Li Qingzhao,Huang Tingjian and Qin Guan, but his ci poems are absorbed in new popular factors from North Popular Liturature, especially qu,which was meaningful as a pioneer in the development of liturature history on the turn of North Song Dynasty and South Song Dynasty.
