The direct and detailed research on the Er-hu's playing skills and music traits has attracted lots of attentions. However, the external causes have seldom been mentioned. The external causes, the playing skills and the music traits are equally important in causing the different playing styles of the Er-hu, especially between the Qin Er-hu and the Southern River Er-hu. For this reason, this essay will balance these three points.
