The paper pursues in studying the living space of the daily lives of the people of thespecific time of Song and Yuan Dynasties in the long history of China and discussing theparticular feature of the types of living, space culture in the aspects of social economic andcultural environment, architectural culture, views of aesthetics and ideology of that time.The paper will also, through studying the actual relics, working over thedevelopments and achievements of that time in its design in living space and decoration toseek the artistic value which will integrate traditional culture with modern design art byusing contemporary literature concept, cultural ideology and philosophy.The article decomposes the elements of living space, including architectural layoutand decoration, garden, industrial arts and furniture technology and display into threeaspects of material, technology and spirit. The material aspect means space arrangement,furniture and other implements. The technological aspect includes configuration,workmanship, criterion and standard.
