Prosaic novels, as one kind of newly-emerged sub-style, its growth experiencedmore than half a century and it became matured in 80s of 20 Century. Starting withsource and flows of prosaic novels, this thesis discusses many problems relating toprosaic novels. Just in these way, this thesis tries to master prosaic novelsmacroscopically and comb its developing tracks on the basis of a principle ofsummarizing and inducing. In view of the fact that most comments only focused onsome certain writers or their novels, this thesis tries to classfy the existing researchachievements and explore its developing tendency further based on the classfication.If possible, it will play a guiding or foresight role in the writers' creation and can helpgreatly the readers read and understand the prosaic novels more deeply. This thesisconcerns several theories such as stylistics, narration, linguistic esthetics, theory ofartistic conception, social custom etc.Concretely speaking, this thesis tries to master prosaic novels from amacroscopical viewpoint in the first part, mainly determine the stylistic location ofprosaic novels, and tries to identify the concepts, which related to prosaic novels. Inview of most of the comments only aiming to a certain writer or a certain literaryworks, this thesis mainly focuses on inducing and summarizing of the existingresearch results. Based on previous studies, this thesis trends to summary someideographic characteristics in the field of narrative, so that to distinguish the newlyoccurred sub-style and other styles. In addition, as a new style, the stylistic meaningcan't be neglected. The reason of its marginal state at current stage and itsdevelopment stage and trends are the problems that deserve exploring. In the thirdpart, the thesis tries to illustrates these problems from an angle of style. Moreover, thethird part explores the development trends of prosaic novels from both the angle ofactual accomplishment of prosaic novels in current stage and the angle of reader'sacceptance. As the prosaic novels is a kind of sub-style, its position is bound to beun-mainstreamed and even peripherization, the unimitative charateristic in narrationenables us to see the large space why prosaic novels can survive. While it is differentinterests caused by the charateristic of unimitative and freehand brushwork that resultsin attraction and exclusion from many readers. In addition, the limitation of creationand the lack of commentary on prosaic novels affects its development greatly andmakes the peripherization reasonablly. As a forcast, the thesis points out that the idealdeveloping track of prosaic novels is to transfer and innovate countinously.
