It is widely accepted that there are Christian culture resources in the dramas of Caoyu'sfirst period of time. The researches before were limited in the comparison of concepts.Historical clues which show how Caoyu is influenced are neglected.Christian culture has affected Caoyu in two ways, one is creative plots and the other isart-expression way. As the fact that Caoyu is excellent at describing the inside struggling ofa man, which is the tradition of western literature and which is also the view of Christianculture about human beings.Besides the creative themes, Caoyu is also benefited at the aspect of the art-expression way. There are plenty of Christian words in Caoyu's works: "sin", "mercy"," "salvation" and thelike. To keep the audiences calm and to comfort them, Caoyu ends《Thunder rain》withBach's "High Mess In Bmiuor'Ctus yui Ceneit Donini Noniui", the song of "Praising thelord" and so on.Christian culture has helped to form Caoyu's special aesthetic taste and to abundant hisart-expression way. The works which are created with those resources show both westerncharacteristic and Chinese traditional one. They have been the highest achievements in thehistory of Chinese modern drama and have been ready for other dramatists to learn and tofollow. This is the value of Christian culture for both Caoyu and Chinese modern drama. But since the negligence of the religion or cultural meanings of those resources, it showsconflicts in Caoyu's works. Take《Sun Raise》for example, the concept of "sun raise" canbe explained differently from Caoyu to Christian culture. In the scripture, "sun raise"means "salvation", which points to "Jesus" and "God". But obviously, when Caoyumentions "sun raise", he pictures "the labor". This misunderstanding can be the problemwhich is anxious to be solved not only for Caoyu, but also the whole field of Chinesemodern literature.
