The piano suite "Romeo and Juliet" op.75 by Sergei Prokofiev is one of the greatest works among twenty century's piano music. It demonstrates the composer's unique piano music style. At the same time, this suite has been a successful prototype of piano works which have been transcribed from ballets. This article chose Prokofiev's piano suite "Romeo and Juliet" as a study object. According to the ballets and the development of the plot, the article has technically analyzed the theme, melody, and the harmony of ten movements of the whole suite. By comparing with the ballets, this article has given the performing guideline for piano about how to apply different tone and accent; how to control the strike of the piano keys, and how to manage the pedal. Based on those, a profound view of this great piano work such as its performing skill, musical style, and expression method has been formed in the article. That is the purpose of the study, and also has great theoretical and practical value to today's piano performance and education.
