Pulse Evolution For The Sick Chinese

Yu Kwang-chung was a well-known scholar and poet in the contemporary era in Taiwan. He made great contribution to many subjects, such as poesy, prose, literary criticism, interpretation, and linguistics, so he was praised as a writer with colorful pens. However, in many years, researches on Yu Kwang-chung are mainly about his poesy, not literary criticism. Until the early 90s, the column 'criticism on proficient', in the magazine 'justice on masterpiece', published a series of noticeable articles written by some scholars in Taiwan and Hong Kong including Yu Kwang-chung. These articles criticized on proficient in the early new literature stage, and brought a dispute of revaluing proficient into mainland. At that time, literary criticism and views on literature language from Yu began to attract attention in mainland.This paper begins with the literature phenomena, reviews on the characteristics in criticism, as well as the background and motivation of these compositions. This paper is divided into three chapters. The first chapter discusses the dispute aroused by the column 'criticism on proficient'. The second chapter analyses the background and Yu's incentives of criticism in articles in the column 'criticism on proficient'. The third chapter systematically discusses about Yu's views on literature language, in aspects of views on colloquialism and classical Chinese, and Europe-oriented Chinese.
