Forms Of Life

Henri Focillon is a representative in the French art history in the early 20 century .As an art historian ,It is a famous for him to middle ages of art and the life of forms. Based on the necessary analyzing of the text by focillon and the explanations on him by scholars, This thesis focuses on discussing focillon's most famous book'the life of forms',the reason for this is that make clear of the life of forms, at the same time, we know focillon's thought of art history.This thesis is show in a flashack .below we can do is speculate about 'the life of forms' by five main respects: firstly, try to analyzing center of 'the life of forms' by means of which have compare French and English and Chinese of the three version, then treated research method of the life of forms' ;thirdly, analyzing 'the life of forms' of formate background; in the end, we should concentrate on discussing the question of 'the life of forms' of life, including it's misunderstanding and meaning. To sum up, we hope to outline of the life of forms which it set up a new opinion regarding western art history of method for Chinese's scholar.Focillon construes form as a living entity. It is equally important for him both to form and to life. So ,on the hand, Art cannot reduced of outside politics and economics and social factors, on the contrary, world of forms is inner development of result through the material and technique, on the other hand, Focillon concerned the life of form in the time and 'spiritual family' as well.
