Liang Qichao Modern National Political Personality Thought

Liang Qichao is a famous thinker, politician and academic master in modern China. Over the past years, the scholars angled the researches about Liang Qichao toward political thought sphere, laying particular emphasis on political system. Very few scholars pay attention to micro-political viewing on the psychological level, and no work in collocation and analysis of his political personality thought has been done either. As to his new-democratic idea, the academe concentrates on studies of his thought which reforms national trait and constructs contemporary citizen's personality. Researches concerning with modern citizen's political personality have never been carried out systematically either. Along with the development of democratization progress, the value of his modern citizen's political personality is highlighted. The thesis attempts to investigate Liang Qichao and his modern citizen's idea of "political personality" systematically.The first part elaborate Liang Qichao's reflection on traditional political personality in the thesis. On the basis of the blemishes of traditional political personality summarized in term of four aspects "the weak patriotism", "political inhospitality mental state mightiness" etc together with the analysis of modern Chinese social transformation and the "corpus" obstacle brought by political democratization , the thesis points out the fact that the traditional political personality should be abandoned by the modern citizens that is the corpus of country, and the necessity for forming contemporary political personality which regards the western idea of "democracy,freedom, rule of law" as the principle.The second part attempts to carry out an investigation into Liang Qichao's mode for structuring contemporary citizen's political personality, which includes building up value of democracy, furthering understanding of the political role played by master of the country, and fostering the law doctrine of "two combine" and citizen's political ability.The third part is the study of Liang Qichao's generative mechanism of the political personality for modern citizen, which demonstrates the natural advance, feasibility of modern citizen's political thought, and long process of forming modern Chinese citizen's political economic system on the basis of analysis of positive impact of four fields including contemporary Chinese political economical system, political culture, political education, public concern and western political personality on Chinese political economic system , political culture, political education on constructing modem citizen's political personality.The value of Liang Qichao and modern citizen's political personality thought is assessed by the writer in the fourth part of the thesis. His thought establishes the modern citizen's value orientation of political personality, studies the relationship between political democratization and political personality, probes the conflict arising from transformation of modern citizen's political personality, and plays an active role in modern Chinese democratic institution construction, legal system construction and the person. His limitations inevitably resulted from the fact that he is the spokesman of bourgeoisie featured by conservatism, vacillate and lack of thoroughness lead to failure in achieving the anticipated result in the process of putting his ideas into practice.
