| Liu De-hai is a contemporary master of Pipa playing, and has made great contribution to the popularization of Pipa art. His artistic style, ideas for composition, and especially his renovation and reform of Pipa techniques have tremendously expanded the expression of Pipa, and promoted its development in the contemporary period. In this thesis the author explores his renovation and reform of Pipa techniques with examples, and from these facts integrates and evaluates the technical and musical style of Mr. Liu De-hai; and from the individual analysis, attempts to predict the trends of the general development of Pipa art in the future. |
