| Cicero's view of state is the core of his political thought. It is his understanding of Roman country and a tentative plan of an ideal state. We can get a clearer understanding about Cicero and the late Roman Republic through analyzing Cicero's view of state. Although there are many articles on Cicero in academic circles and some accomplishments have been acquired, all these researches are restricted in the politics and the philosophy domain; researches in historical angle are still insufficient. There is no article on Cicero's view of state either. Therefore, this article aims at making an analysis on this issue with a history angle ,with the help of some politics,the philosophy and the psychology knowledge.The major points of this article are as follows:First, "view of state" refers to people's understanding about state (including its conception and origin, its characteristics and types, the assignment and utilization of its authority, its management way and so on).Second, Cicero's view of State can be divided into five aspects, including his understanding to its concept, origin, type division, the relationship between state and individuals as well as its management method.Third, Cicero's view of state is a combined result between the Roman objective environment and his subjective will. These two kind of factors by no means simply adding together, but is "The environment—beforehand favors—responds" relation.Fourth, Cicero's view of state instructed his political practices, bared somewhat tremendous influence in Roman society and had exerted a profound influence to later generation's political thoughts and their political practices. |
