"Shijing" refers to Confucian classics or Buddhist sutras engraved on stone tablets. There are a large number of research works on the valuable stone scriptures before and during Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). As to " Shijing" in Han Dynasty (206 BC-220) alone, there are half a dozen research works, including Research on Remnants Words of Shijing in Han Dynasty by Weng Fanggang and Introduction to Shijing in Han and Wei Dynasties (220-265) by Liu Chuanying in Qing Dynasty. New Discoveries of Shijing Studies in Han and Wei Dynasties by Wu Weixiao and also the Janpanese scholar Wu Neiyixiong's Research on Remnants words of Shijing in Han Dynasty and Analects of Confucius. In addition, this research can also find expression in almost ten other general introductions to Shijing and history books like Review of Shijing by Gu Yanwu and Review of Shijing by Wan Sitong. However, these books contradict with each other in the number of Confucian classics or Buddhist sutras. Some say the number of classics is five, others say it is six or seven. Meanwhile, the books are divided on the scripture numbers and writing styles. So the first part of this thesis, "Basic introduction to Shijing in successive dynasties", will strive to solve the contradictions by giving an overall introduction to the scriptures in seven dynasties of Han, Wei, Tang (618-907),Shu , Northern Song (960-1127), Southern Song (1127-1279), and Qing.Analects of Confucius is a book that records the words and actions of Confucius and his pupils. It has a significant influence on the posterity with deep and rich thoughts and contents. Over the ancient dynasties, there were a huge number of research works on it, but few on its stone scripture version. Though the above-mentioned works on Shijing talk a little bit on its stone version. They, however, lack of systematic research because each of them targets Shijing in one particular dynasty. So the second part of the thesis will illustrate systematically all the versions of Shijing in the above-mentioned seven dynasties, and study on the versions by researchers in the seven dynasties, and compare the old Shijing with Analects of Confucius in the newly excavated stone scriptures.Shijing research covers its origin and content. Review of Shijing by Gu Yanwu and Review of Shijing by Wan Sitong give you an insight into the origin of Shijing, while works including Research on Remnants Words of Shijing in Han Dynasty by Weng Fanggang talk about its content. Meanwhile, every dynasty has its own research works on the stone version of Analects of Confucius. Therefore, the third part of the paper collects all the fragments of the Analects of Confucius engraved in stone tablets in all the dynasties. The paper list all the words in the stone version of Analects of Confucius recorded in the research works available now for easier reference for researchers.
