Hong Kong Director Image In The Eyes Of Shanghai

Shanghai, as the name of a city often appears in the films, left all kinds of memories, some are beautiful, some are sorrow. Shanghai, once the prosperous city of far east, was the International metropolis as Paris or London. Shanghainese has their proud since then, the proud even turns to Hong Kong and Tai Wan, even overseas. To Hong Kong director, they are far from Shanghai, there is the distance of beauty, it gives out a large space to imagine, as the imagination, people like putting their subject idea into films, try hard to make them more beautiful, thus, in their mind, Shanghai becomes a special concept of nostalgia symbol and root symbol. After 1990's, Kong Kong directors came to shanghai to make films regarding old Shanghai. In my thesis,I will search the reason that why HK directors are so interested in Shanghai, analyze their purposes that they choose shanghai as the background of the story to present nostalgia, and talk about the Shanghai features in their films, deeply find out the directors'idea and their understand to Shanghai, also I will list the impact of their films in nowadays Shanghai.
