| Yan Lianke is an important writer in contemporary literature circle. Since he published the first novel in 1979, Yan had written"the series of Yaogou","the series of all kinds of people in Dongjing"and"the series of peace". After the middle 90's his"the series of Balou"have startled the literary world, especially RiGuangLiuNian, JianYingRuShui and ShouHuo. And the Balou Mountains in his novels give a deep impression on readers.This thesis tries to probe the cultural essence which the Balou Mountains brought to Yan in his novels through the perspective of"the Culture of Land", to discuss the unique style by using the theory of culture and text analysis, and to find new way to research on cultural essence in contemporary novels.The first part gives an explanation of country power in Yan's novels which is an important part of the Culture of Land, draws the outline of a series of male and female roles through analyzing how the power aggrieved these countrymen, and finds out Yan's unique perspective on country power by comparing with other writers in Henan.The second part states"Enchantment"in Yan's novels which is another important part of the Culture of Land. These mysterious things spread in the countryman'life and thought such as ghosts, sacred animals and plants, the fatality of tribulation, which brought Yan the best materials and fantastic imagination to his novels.The third part mainly expounds creative narrative mode in Yan's novels which rooted in the Culture of Land. Diverse sounds and colours of land enlighten him to innovate his novel's language. Circular concept of time derived from land enlightens him to innovate his novel's structure and leads to his response to writers of fantastic realism in Latin America. |
