Cultural Revolution Language Study

"Cultural Revolution" is a special period in China's history. Political unrest accelerated language variation,formed large quantities of words and expressions reflecting Cultural Revolution period character.Ten years "Cultural Revolution" has been created violently, thorough ,but also short impact to language. As a product of the social life, Cultural Revolution language is unaviodably affected by such social factors as social changes, social class,page layout and style. This thesis tentatively analyses the co-variation between a socioty and a language from Sociolinguistics perspective.As for the research approaches in this thesis, we use the quantitative analysis .We use CD-ROM OF PEOPLE'S DAILY (1946-1995), published by PEOPLE'S DAILY PUBLISHING HOUSE. Based on the sample investigation, we establishes corpus as statistical foundation.This thesis consists of six parts:1. Prologue. This part mainly introduces the research situation of Cultural Revolution language,the scope of Cultural Revolution language.2. The analysis of co-variation between Cultural Revolution language and political factors.3. The analysis of co-variation between Cultural Revolution language and newspaper page layout.4. The analysis of co-variation between Cultural Revolution language and style.5. The analysis of co-variation between Cultural Revolution language and social class.6. Conclusion.This part summarizes the main point of this thesis.This thesis tentatively analyses Cultural Revolution language and summary several rules of language development and evolution , expecting that it can help to enrich the Sociolinguistics studies.
