On The New Racism In Canada (1970-2000)

The Canadian government had been carrying out the racialism policy until the very starting of the World War II. In 1971, Canada began to implement the policy of multiculturalism. After that, the ethical relationship has been remarkably improved and there aren't almost any obvious racialism actions. All of sudden, this model has became the nonesuch method to solve the ethical issues in the world, while a Canadian people has seemingly entered into the "No Racialism Age". However, is it the reality? How is the ethical relationship getting along in Canada on earth after the three decades of practice of the multiculturalism? Whether does there exist neo-racialism? Does it have epochal features? And what are the reasons of its existence and the solutions for the problem? All the above questions are the focus of the present study.The introductory part is a brief review of the racialism backgrounds in Canada in order that the readers could understand the latter parts. The thesis can be divided into the following five parts.The first part is about the existence of racialism in Canada. The biggest problem to explore the situations of racialism is to how to measure it. What sort of actions can be regarded as the evidence of the racialism? In addition, how to quantize the type of evidence? Concerning this perspective, the present study borrows methodology from sociology.And the widely-used approach, that is, questionnaires of the social behaviors is utilized to determine the existence of racialism in Canada from aspects of employment, income, migration, judicature and public opinions.The second part concerns the characteristics of neo-racialism in Canada. The necessity of investigating this age of racialism lies in its sharp-cut feature which is different from the old one. The evident feature is invisibility. The methods of being invisible employed by the neo-racialism consists of three main types: denying, replacing and civilizing.The third parts deals with the reasons for the existence of neo-racialism.
