Ming Chi "prelude And Fugue Set

Professor Chen'mingzhi is a famous composer, theorist, music educator and an eminent specialist in the theory and practice of polyphonic music in our country. He is a composer in theoretical research and a positive pioneer in creation and research of polyphonic music. His works in respective periods in more than half century's musical composition, which have probing features and audibility, represent the advancing paces of music in respective periods in China. He pays more attention to the techniques and structural logic in his works, and more attention to the discovery of polyphonic music, then he puts those into co-effect and co-development in the course of teaching, creating and studying.In this paper, based on the works of Professor Chen in his symposium of Preludes & fugues, 13 works in it are analyzed and studied from the point views of polyphonic techniques, structural logic, musical language and the relations between Preludes and fugues. In chapter 1 the structural classification and opposite technique of the 13 works are demonstrated, In chapter 2 the application of modern techniques and the succession and creation of ethnic formats are summarized, In chapter 3 the relations between Preludes and fugues is discussed, In chapter 4 the comparing research is done between the symposium and some western master's works.More attention is expected from science world to Chen's symposium by the analysis, research and demonstration in this paper, and more acknowledgement and understanding is expected for the modern techniques and ethnic formats in Chen's works. This paper can be a good reference for the creation and research of polyphonic music in our courtry.
