Egyptian women movement is essential to study the transition of women position in Egypt. In the twentieth century, women social position has undergone a historical period of intense changes with the rising and development of Egyptian women movement.This paper includes three parts: The preface, the main body and the conclusion.The preface summarizes the research development and achievements on the Egyptian women movement in the twentieth century at home and abroad. Based on these achievements, the paper discusses and analyzes the main reasons and concrete performance about Egyptian women movement in the twentieth century.The main body is composed of three parts.The first part briefly reviews the women social position in Egypt before the twentieth century. Since the seventh century, Egypt has started its Islamic Age, and the women position was once raised. But the women position fell sharply with Islam becoming increasingly close and backward. To the eighteenth-and nineteenth-century, the earliest consciousness of the sexual equality and women liberation aroused at the upper level women in Egypt under the impact of western culture.The second part discusses the concrete performance and functions that Egyptian women movement exercised at the fleld of education and employment in the first part period of the twentieth century, analyzes the important effect which the western thoughts and Egyptian own culture had on the Egyptian women movement, and points out that Egyptian women movement is an important part of Egyptian national and democratic movement.The third part discusses new achievements that Egyptian women movement acquired at the field of education, employment and politics in the second half period of the twentieth century, analyzes specially the pushing effect which Egyptian economic development and international society had on Egyptian women movement, and points out that Islamic Fundamentalism obstructed the development of Egyptian women movement.The conclusion analyzes the hallmarks of Egyptian women movement in the twentieth century in comparison with western feminism, and points out that people should not judge Egyptian women movement by western feminism, but by the previous Egyptian women position. Only that, we can find the correct position of Egyptian women movement in the twentieth century.
