Imperativeness is one of the important functions of language. When most Chinese students express imperative intentions in Russian, they are inclined to use direct instead of indirect speech. But in the ordinary communication in Russia, people are more likely to use different grammatical devices to express their imperative intentions. Such expressions not only makes the tone tactful, but also embody the polite manner of the speaker. Therefore, a deep and systematic study of different sentence patterns, which can express imperative meanings indirectly, will make us understand other's intentions better, and also promote smooth communication by using these sentences correctly.Indirect Speech Acts is a completely new theory in pragmatics,and it is the development and consummation of J.L.Austin's Speech Act Theory. At the same time ,the application of Indirect Speech Acts plays an important role in ordinary communication because it will make conversations go smoothly. Based on Indirect Speech Acts , this paper systemeticly describes conventional indirect acts, which implies imperative meanings ,and the pragmatic factors, which influence the understanding and the choice of them.This paper has five parts:The first part describes indirect Speech Act Theory and Indirect Speech Acts.The second part describes indirect acts in Russian, which implies imperative meanings, specifically refers to how dedarative mood , interrogative mood, desiderative mood carry out indirect acts.The third part analyzes pragmatic factors, which influence the understanding and the choice of Indirect Speech Acts. The factors are: context, social cultural background, and mother tongue.The fourth part gives several suggestions about teaching of Russian. In the teaching , we should make students learn to know conventional indirect speech acts and its major characteristics, and use them correctly. At the same time , we also need to raise the bilingual ability of teachers.The fifth part draws the conclusions.
