| Texture is a basis of understanding world, as well, texture has characteristic of the objects and materials of the visual world. The question of texture discrimination is also a question of image discrimination. So it is well worth researching texture. In our experiments, we used natural textures from Brodatz'album. 12 subjects were asked to perform similarity and 6 features judgement. Each experiment has two time stages: preattentive and attentive, we wish the research on preattention and attention's relation can deepen the understanding of texture perception and provide proofs of computer's image discrimination. The results were as follows:(1)Some common factors affect preattention and attention's similarity perception. These factors are the meaning of object, shape, gray and its space distributing. Differences of two attentive stages in similarity perception is preattentive stage obtain global information; attentive stage can capture more part information on the base of preattention; Attention stage can process semantic information.(2)The relation of preattention and attention on 6 texture features is close. Difference of two attentive stages in feature perception is: preattention can judge features which represent global, a large visual field information(orientation, complexity, coarseness) or can be discriminated(line likeness); Attention can judge features which represent part information(contrast and intelligibility) and adjust, revise, improve preattention's difference judgement.(3)Natural texture has all kinds of strange things. Now the analysis of natural texture is focus on macrotexture feature, for simple picture macrotexture can represent well, for complex picture, represent badly. The research on microtexture feature, such as, semantic, texture element shape, should strengthen.,moreover, should distinguish different weight coefficient of texture feature.(4)In experiments of similarity and feature perception, preattention is parallel, a large visual field process, attention is serial, part process, preattention is foundation of attention, attention adjust, revise, improve preattentive judgement. Differences of two attentive stages in perception due to cognitive capacity, This opinion support texture feature is graded. |
