Calligraphy is developing along with the changes of times. In view of the increasingly burdensome daily life, in order to meet the needs of social life, Seal Character began to decompose its Seal technic and evolved into Lishu, a convenient calligraphy. Silk Books in tombs of Han Dynasty at Mawangdui, as transitional products of this evolvement, act as a connecting link between the preceding and the following, and present a variety of styles. If the font is changing, the innovation of the font structure is naturally accompanied by the renovation and breakthrough of the vigor of style in writing. This dissertation is intended to analyze the various transitional styles from the perspective of the structure and vigor of style in writing and from the perspective of the concrete configuration of strokes of stippling. The relationship between calligraphy and times is reflected from the writing font, writing tools, writing methods and writing functions, which are all decided by the times they are in. Calligraphy is deeply and fundamentally influenced by the social politics, economy and cultural psychology of certain times. Silk Books in tombs of Han Dynasty at Mawangdui, as an important calligraphy in the history of calligraphy, which occurred in the social upheaval period of Qin-Han Dynasty, are closely influenced by its social condition. This dissertation illustrates the formative reasons of its calligraphic font from the relationship between calligraphy and times, such as the economical development of Xi-Han, on-limits ideological and cultural policies, Chu-Cultural and so on.The unearthing of Silk Books in tombs of Han Dynasty at Mawangdui substantiates the origination and formation of Lishu and supplies a gap of Xi-Han calligraphy history. The innovation of the vigor of style in writing and the uniqueness of the font are valuable in the study of calligraphy, and provide us an ideal paragon for learning and study.
