On The Chongqing Region Late Bar Culture And The Demise Of The Process

Ba People was a great nation in the area of Three Gorges. In the Previous Qin Period, they had established a country which included a part of Sichuan, Chongqing, Hunan, Hubei, Guizhou and Shanxi, and created a fantastic culture—Ba Culture. The area which Ba Culture spread was mainly passage that Sichuan Basin communicated and culture promulgated. The archeological research of Ba Culture has a important effect for realizing the appearance of archeological culture of Sichuan in the Previous Qin Period. At the same time, the research is an important content for exploring of the origin of Chinese Civilisation and building of the archeological system of China. This paper discusses one aspect of this problem, the archeological appearance and the course of the decline of Late Ba Culture.At first, this paper reviews the historical process that scholars have researched and realized Ba-Shu Culture and Ba Culture. Second, it combines the previous achievement with the new discovery in the area of Three Gorges, elaborating the thought about the definition of Late Ba Culture and the historical background of Late Ba Culture, and listing the archeological relics about Late Ba Culture in Chongqing, and summarizing the archeological features of Late Ba Culture, and classifying the relics into different periods and area. Third, this paper takes a archeological view of the course of the decline of Late Ba Culture in Chongqing, the period is confined from middle Warring States period to the middle Western Han dynasty, the zone is confined to the coastwise of Yangzi River in Chongqing , the purpose is the quantitative change of culture factor of Late Ba Culture in those archeological relics. Through using the methods of typology, analysis of culture factor, statistics and chart, this paper makes a quantitative arrangement preliminary for the course of the decline of Late Ba Culture in Chongqing ,analyzes the difference of area, type and speed in the course of decline of Late Ba Culture ,summarizes the features of this course and the historical reason . Finally, this paper summarizes the speciality of the course of the decline of Late Ba Culture in Chongqing and the necessity of the decline of Late Ba Culture.
