| Animations and films are intercrossed both in artistic and technical way. The more accurate way to describe it is that the principles of sliding images back to the period of "motion picture" had inspired the invention of film art, which made animation a film genre after its maturity. Animated film set up the distinguishing style by its extremely hypothetical and exaggerated character, which is quite different with other kinds of films. Chinese animated film began with the mimetic phase, and then went through the sequacious phase. By the end of 1950s, during the nationalized grope it gradually shaped its unique style, which is called "the Chinese school". The Chinese school of animation pays attention to the exploration and utilization of traditional art forms, so it presents obvious character of nationality. And its prestige is attributed to the excellence of using fine arts. But animation is not simply about animating fine arts. The unbalance between strong art thoughts and film weak film thoughts implied hidden trouble. By the end of 1980s, the Chinese school of animation did achieve a new lease of life because of its unadaptation of the new era. The acclaimed classics, especially those made of Chinese ink-wash paintings have lost their luster. In the 1990s, none of Chinese animations won any international awards. The name of "the Chinese school" fell low, while some other schools boomed in the same period of time are still active by now. By comparison, the Chinese school was too conservative in composition. In the present poor condition, it is helpful for the Chinese animation production to study and learn from the success of other countries' animation industry. |
