In the late of 1980s, Su Tong and a large number of advanced authors switched to write historical novels. To compare with the works of the other "New Historical Novel" authors, Su Tong's "New Historical Novel" had its own character and charm. He transferred the writing visual angle from nation to family, loving to use the chance and fatalism to explain the trend of history and considered nobody as descriptive object to show their expanded desire, ugly being and dead goal so as to dispel the inherent history, changing history into a fabled intelligent narrative process or the author's own experienced history.Getting used to it, Su Tong's "New Historical Novel" had broken by narration way. He regarded his own words as the core of historical narration and cut the history into small pieces, expressing the contingency, complexity and pluralism of history by disorder of arranging. He retold the history at the point of the edge, making narration itself become a personal speaking way and significant cramming way of history.
