Enlightenment brings the advocating of reasoning, which starts-up the course of the whole modernization successfully. The authority mythology of reasoning gets rid of occasion and falsehood and forms production flow of standard and integrative, which produces mass culture that threatens personality and creativity. The mass culture becomes axes of what the mass pursue. The mass culture propagandizes the commodity in symbol and image, and it forms the stable base of consuming culture. By the symbol of media and information of image, the consuming system of forced is constructed. The individual is entirely indulged into consuming, which is a vicious circle, and then the consuming culture splits from the mass culture.The consuming culture of post modernity can't meet the demands of individuation, which makes people consume constantly till they exhaust. The view of nonmaterial world presented by the symbol and image is the obstacle of the consuming culture splitting from the mass culture. The consuming culture makes the consummation extreme, which makes it return into the mass culture while the consuming culture is pregnant in the mass culture at first.In this thesis, the whole process of the consuming culture splits from the mass culture and then returning to the mass culture is presented. The Chinese are experiencing the process of the mass culture going to the consuming culture. But Chinese culture is not completely same as the west. Only by deeply studying the mass culture and the consuming culture, the construction of socialism culture in china can be developed healthy.
