As a cultural phenonmenon, magic influences almost every nation in the world on politics, religion, literature and other arts. Poetry and spell both have magic power. This article tries to study the intimate relationship between poetry and spell. Then we can find the similarity and the difference between magical thoughts and artistic thoughts. The difference can show the aesthetic feature of poetic language, and the similarity can show people's common needs in feelings and spirits. At the same time, comparing the two kinds of language will broaden our vision and open a new thinking in studying poetry at the present age. Introduction. From the middle of the nineteenth century, theories of studying magic have become more and more. Magical ritual words as one part of ancient religions also are paid great attention to. Research in relationship between poetry and spell are mostly from the angle of embryology, and the works and the papers of studying the linguistic relationship between poetry and spell are not many. As a result, it is quite important to study the profound relationship between magic and language, living. 1.common origination. Ancient magic and poetry are an organic whole. Mystery is the innate character of magical thoughts and identity is the founctional discipline of magical thoughts. In addition, the form of expression of magical thoughts is concrete. The mysterious, identical and concrete character of magic thoughts is deep similar to artistic thoughts. So the words of spell embody such poetic linguistic features as musicial, emotional and imagery. 2.Difficult division. With the development of science and the form of human's individual consciousness, magic declined slowly. Also the failure of magic itself changed people's attitude of sincerely believing in magic. Then the division of ancient culture that is an organic whole provides a turning point of breaking away from ancient religions and beginning to be in its mature period with independent character. 3.Difference in similarity. Poetry is not magic ritual words, which mainly embodies in three aspects. Firstly, the language of poem is inward words, but the language of spell is outward words. Secondly, reading poem can give us free aesthetic feeling, but spell makes people feel mysterious force.
