The early period Chinese piano music with the polyphonic technique was a very important part in Chinese traditional music, and it is the production of the western and Chinese music composing theories and Chinese outstanding traditional music that was combined by the Chinese composers. It is impressively marked by the Chinese traditional rich cadences and styles. In our analysis and research on those music works, no matter on applying of composing skills of Chinese style piano polyphony, or on studying the performing skills of Chinese polyphonic works, we can find both the benefit and necessity in it, furthermore, the piano polyphony is inherit and development upon our traditional music and arts.Referring to lots of the references and historic books about the Chinese piano music development and standpoint of the Chinese authoritative pianists, the writer of the article defines the early period of the developing process of Chinese piano music to the term which is from the year of the first Chinese Piano publication, "Progress with peace" 1915 to the year of 1966, the eve of the China Cultural Revolution.The writer used many references from the historical documents and the theoretical analysis as the major study method to compare and analyze the utilizable skills of piano polyphonic works from early period of 20th century to the eve of Culture Revolution. The article indicates the Chinese piano polyphonic works in the early period are the Chinese musicians' understanding and practical writing upon the western polyphonic thought, and they are also the evidence of the processing development of Chinese characteristic traditional music. Hopefully the writer draw support from the article to help the readers preliminary understand the forming process of our Chinese piano polyphonic music characterized by the style of Chinese folk songs. The article takes the examples more like polyphonic style music to help piano learner clarify the polyphonic style in both Chinese and western music works. Moreover, at the angle of piano teaching, those works contribute their demonstration to strengthen and develop the students' playing skills in the polyphonic works, and step by step let them recognize and comprehend more about the logical thought, music expression and aesthetic mentality in the Chinese traditional music.
