On The Story Complex In Maugham's Novels

Maugham was a realistic writer who impacted on other writersdeeply from the later 19th century to the middle 20th century. His works,which had a worldly influence , are known by all of us.This articleattempts to analyse the inauguration of Maugham'novels and his affinityto story. By the old and traditional form of "taletelling",Maughamrevealed the darkness and unfair of English society, and excavated thecomplexity and secrete of humanity, and pursued the rebuilding andperfection of inspirite. By pointing that Maugham inspired thedevelopment of realistic novels, this article also analyses the modernity ofMaugham'novels and his inauguration in art.Finally,the author points thatMaugham was a special and important writer during the transformation ofEnglish literature from realism to modernism .
