Between Public And Private

What is public ethics and private ethics? What's their relationship? This is a new field in the study of ethics. This paper cuts in the basic meaning of the public and private ethics, and reaches deep into the characteristics of them, as well as objects being accommodated and the practical significance in social life.This article begins with the expatiate on the meaning of Public sphere and (he Private sphere, which is the precondition and foundation to distinguish private ethics and public ethics. Accordingly it will help to nail down the concept, property, and the category of the two kinds of ethnics. Then the paper stales the correlative basic theories of private and public ethics on the aspects of meaning, character, and the ranges of adjust, etc. The two ethics distinguish themselves in terms of the different benefits they point to separately. Public ethics mainly adjusts the ethics relationship in the public sphere, and the benefit points to the public. Private ethics, however, mainly adjusts the ethics relationship in the private sphere, and the benefit points to the individual. At last, it states the dialectic relations between private and public ethnics. On the one hand, they differ in character, scope, object, and function; on the other hand, they work on and supplement each other. To the private ethnic, public ethics is the leading part, which rules and inducts private ethics. Likewise, the self-perfection of the public ethics depends on the drive and support of the private ethnic. Also, the article puts stress on the practical value that theoretic study of the two kinds of ethnics and their relationship makes on the cultivating of the civic virtues and the building of a harmonious socialized society.
