The study into mental quality of college students will be greatly contributive to the understanding of its present situation and future education. Nowadays, there are still no recognized components of metal quality and scientific tools for its measurement. To improve the study in this field, this paper intends to explore a reasonable structure of and design a scientific and applied scale for metal quality of college students. Under the help and supports of staffs and students from national-wide colleges and universities, the study is developed smoothly. 1366 psychologists, college teachers, social people and college students are sampled as the subjects. By the way of literature review, interviewing and investigating, and with the use of factors analysis, a structure of mental quality of college students is explored. Then according to it, a self-designed scale for mental quality is made and used to measure 4030 college students by means of factor analysis and analysis of variance for estimating its measurement traits.There comes out the following results. Firstly, metal quality of college student comprises seven key factors: character, cognition, inter-relationship, career capability, psychology dynamism, learning psychology and self-consciousness. Secondly, general scale is of good consistency reliability and α coefficient is 0.9639. Sub-scales also have good consistency reliability. α coefficient of them are from 0.7888 to 0.8902. Thirdly, the questionnaire has good content-related validity and criterion-related validity. But the construct need more study. Fourthly, psychology dynamism and self-consciousness are good, while inter-relationship and career capability are relatively low. Generally speaking, metal quality of college students needs further improvement. Finally, the factors such as gender, type of college, major and geographic area can be of certain effects on the mental quality of college students. |
