Duan Yucai had maken a comprehensive study on phonogram of Daxu edition of Shuowen Jiezi. All his achievements reflect in his work, annotation of Shuowen Jiezi. As the leading role of the four scholars who contribute greatly to the study of Shuowen Jiezi, Duan wrote such a great work that can represent the climax of the study of Shuowen Jiezi. Duan Zhu makes great effort to classify and verify Shuo Wen of Daxu edition. His rectification on phonogram is the most elaborate and reliable. But it is a fact that studies on comparison of phonogram between Daxu edition of Shuowen Jiezi and Duan Zhu were rare. This thesis is attempting to make a contrast about determinate of phonogram between the above two works so as to present a panorama of rectification on phonogram.This thesis has two parts, theory illustration and data presentation. The part of theory illustration has four chapters. The foreword reviews the history of study on Shuowen Jiezi, such as the importance of the study on phonogram of Xiao Zhuan, the survey on study of former dynasties, the importance of the study on Duan Zhu on phonogram rectification to- Daxu edition of Shuowen Jiezi and general situation of Duan 's total rectification on Daxu edition of Shuowen Jiezi. The chapter, "the general situation of Duan 's total rectification on Daxu edition of Shuowen Jiezi " describes a chief table about the classification and rectification of Duan Zhu on Daxu edition of Shuowen Jiezi. The chapter, "the analysis of Duan Zhu on Daxu edition of Shuowen Jiezi " has four sections including different measures taken by Duan to revise, on phonogram of phonetic absence, strokes absence, multi-figure, multi-pronounciation, verifications on characters of Yi Sheng and Yi Xing etc. The chapter, "the evaluation of Duan Zhu on phonogram of Daxu edition of Shuowen Jiezi" discusses the achievements and losses of Duan's verification on phonogram of Daxu edition of Shuowen Jiezi. The second part "data presentation" lists 692 phonograms that were classified differently between Duan Zhu and Daxu edition of Shuowen Jiezi.
