Machiavelli was the statesman and diploma during the Renaissance phase in Italy. His diplomatic thought burgeoned in the historical period of transition from feudal Middle Ages to Capitalism, and formed in the dismembered period of Italy. Zhang Yi was also the statesman and diploma in the Period of Warring States in China. His diplomatic thought formed in the historical period of transition from slave society to feudal society, in which seven powerful countries were struggling for hegemony. The dissertation will probe the two famous men's contribution to the development of the world diplomatic thought, through comparing some aspects, such as the history backgrounds which were the headspring for their diplomatic thoughts, the diplomatic condition among countries, diplomatic artifice, diplomatic strategy, and the heft. At last we also hope to attain the useful enlightenment and reference from it.
