Yan Fu Experience Of Reason And Its Political And Ideological Study

This dissertation trys to redemonstrate and reassess Yanfu's political thought onthree layers. On the layer of academic path and methodology,he took the route ofempiricism uncommonly,arguing that Politics should be divided from Ethnics butlinked with History and that a proper distance should be kept between academicresearch and policy,so as to make Politics scientific.On the layer of theory frame,heexplored the rule of the existence and evolvement of political institutionsystematically. He pointed out that the political reformation should follow the way ofgradualism since the existence and evolvement of political institution depend on manycomplicated factors.On the layer of political participation,he kept on criticizing twokinds of dominating thoughts profoundly. Furthermore, his criticism changedreversedly according to the mainstream's alteration.By those analyses the author tendsto indicate that the radical thoughts snatched the leading power of speech and thendescribed Yanfu as a degenerative man.Moreover,it is the difference of thinking modeand thinking tool that made the contemporary elites couldn't understandYanfu.Ultimately,this dissertation trys to display the great significance of Yanfu'sempirical reason,especially to modern China.
