| This paper reveals the paradox of on Origin of Language by Rousseau: Rousseau has a profound respect for natural language, emphasizing the self-satisfactory and transparence of the language, and he holds writing in abhorrence. On the other hand, to express his idea Rousseau has to depend on the writing-symbols. This contradiction has close relationship with the metaphysical tradition, which argues that there is an autonomic spirit that could be communicated without any material medium. Rousseau' linguistic Philosophy is based on it. |
