Using synthetically the traditional social-history criticism and the theory referred to narratology, this thesis divides the family novels in the period after the Great Cultural Revolution into four types, which are emotion mode, symbol mode, plot mode and polyphonic mode. Through the analysis to these modes, this thesis attempts to hold the characteristics of the text and find their value or meaning in the literature history.The thesis consists of four chapters except for the preface and conclusion.The first chapter:Through the aspects such as narrative perspective, narrative structure, character moulding, language and so on, the thesis has analyzied the text characteristics of the emotion mode. It announced that national politics and the trend created of writer's subject have made effect on the formation of this mode.The second chapter:Through the tenor expression and vehicle moudling, it inquires after the thought meaning and its initiative value compared with those novels with the same subject.The third chapter:Compared with the similar mode in the past, It revealed that the plot mode breaks through the tradition on the aspects which are thought content, character delineation, artistic technique of expression. It proves the pivot position in the literature history.The fourth chapter:It explained the vanguard quality of this mode. Analysing from the respects, such as the losing of people, multiple quality of the text, feeling that readers experienced, style of the novels, etc.
