The rhetorical question is a commonly used type with various types and complicated function in Chinese, and it has been concerned by a lot of scholars all the time. The rhetorical question is difficult point and one of the focal points in teaching Chinese as foreign language too. Research was mostly to proceed from noumenonn of Chinese, and the method described was adopted to study it in the past. Although Research makes a lot of achievements, the achievements aren't used in teaching well. Besides, questions of rhetorical question in interlanguage is not observed specifically too. It leads to the fact that noumenonn research breaks away from teaching reality.In order to solve the problems above and the difficult points of teaching Chinese as foreign language, this thesis adopting the method that the ration combines with qualitative analysis tries to research the typical marked rhetorical question from a angle of function. Firstly, the typical marked rhetorical questions are divided into 24 kinds of 11 types from form and divided into 12 kinds from pragmatics meaning basing on 6 million words verbal repertoire of Chinese. We carry on statistical analysis to the distribution of various kinds of sentences and distribution of the function. We drawn three array: The array on the frequency of utilization in Chinese; The array on the functions distribute in Chinese; A type frame that each kind of function used mainly. Secondly, we probe into intensity of rhetorical questions, and we think that change of intensity demonstrates a ladder of gradation zone. Factors of influencing intensity include strengthening factors and lightening factors. Thirdly, we explain uniqueness to the rhetorical question with the conversation principle and relevance theory. The fourth, combining the research before, the reality to interlanguage of Chinese on rhetorical question is investigated, analysed, and we put forward the comparatively effective teaching counte5rmeasure.We hope to regard typical marked rhetorical question as the cutting111oint and find corresponding relation between the form and the function of rhetorical question, and hope to set up the function frame of the rhetorical question. The purpose is to find a interface between research and teaching of the rhetorical question, make difficulties in teaching rhetorical question broken through to some extent, make learners use the rhetorical question to communicate accurately and appropriately.
