Peer relationships provide an important context for both social and cognitive development. The neglected social status will influence children' socialization development. The children who are in neglected status are likely to become more obedient and silent. So we should pay attention to the neglected children.The paper describes a research on the behavioral trait of neglected children in role-play. The research selected the neglected children and the popular children by peer nomination and teacher nomination. The total number of kids participated in this research is 70 with 35 neglected children and 35 popular children. They come from six middle-class in three kindergarten. They are 4 years old. The research compared the behavioral trait between the neglected children and popular children in role-play. The research analyzed the way participating in play, the selection of role, the attitude with stranger and playmate, social competence. The research got some differences between two kinds of children in these aspects.The research has found that, the neglected children are more passive and obedient than the popular children in the way participating in play, the selection of role, the attitude with strangers and playmates, social skill when they were in role-play. The neglected children would select ordinary roles, but the popular children would select protagonist. The pppular children can arrange whole play. The difference give us material bases for improving children' social status.The research has found that, the social status is associated with teachers' praise and attention, furthermore the social status is associated with children' corporeity, interest, appearance, self-confidence. Teachers and parents play an important role in these aspects. Therefore, teachers and parents should pay attention to the neglected children to improve their social status.Base on the findings of the research, the paper bring forward some educational countermeasures: paying attention to the neglected children in role-play; providing social opportunity for them in kindergarten and home; imparting social skill to them.
