Critical Theory Modern Vision: The Criticism Of The Space To Create

The term of "development of the critical dimension" contains of two kinds of meanings, of which the first means the development of the intellectual individual different discourse and reflection about the actuality of our society and the circumstances of the history, which vary from the pattern of subjects to the criterions of the episteme and the value judgments, after the concept of "modernity" is adopted as the focus of critics, and the second indicates the feet that the cultural critical dimension, a base of a civil society, doesn't be developed as China is joining in the international community with the gradual development of the economic reformation promoted by the Chinese government as a whole. The intellectuals who embark on the criticism of modernity should commit themselves to the formation of the civil critical dimension and contribute to the separation between criticism and the political power after the commercial system separation from the planned economic system. The second meaning is the main opinion of this dissertation.There are three sections of this dissertation. The first one dealing with the theory basis of the whole dissertation holds that there are two theory fountains for the modernistic criticism in the west. One is Webber's opinion concerning the society trend of "Disencharm", and the other the critical theory of Kant's philosophy. Both of these two theory fountains play an important rule in the critical theories about Modernity questions, but the latter is more profound than the former in the analysis of the social conditions and the formation of the critical dimension. The second part is the section of the theoretical analysis, which mainly remark on the opinions of Yang-chunshi, Wang-yuechuan, Wang-hui, Yu-hong and Chen-xiaoming about the Modernity criticism. We believe that all of their opinions about Modernity criticism just stay in the first level of critical dimension mentioned above because the reasons below: Yang-chunshi's criterion of the literary and critical Modernity, which just means the irrational trend of the 20th literature and it's criticism, doesn't accord with the real social conditions. Wang-yuechuan's opinion that the most important thing is rebuild the ethies ration in a modern society also ignore the reality of politics. There is a contradiction in Wang-hui's opinion because on one hand he thought the term of Modernity was a concept of west culture and society, on the other hand he argued that we couldn't ignore the capitalism and globalization to criticize our society. The opposition of the Modernity and Post-Modernity is the principle of Yu-hong's opinion, which would probably cover the multiplex meaning of Modernity and it's values. Although Chen-xiaoming keep the deconstruction position, he also ignore the independence of the critic dimension and it's importance. Adopted the viewpoint of Tocqueville, o. de, a great thinker of France after Great Revolution, I demonstrate and declare my opinion and conclusion in the thirst section of this dissertation that we must try our best to give birth to the independent critical dimension which means a kind of thorough critical spirit based on the same principle shared by the two concepts of Modernity and Post-Modernity after the analysis of Derrida and Foucault's concerned viewpoints.
