Tanci-novel is female literature in late imperial China .It is a kind of special form of novel. For a long time, they were neglected, read by mistake, and drown by the male writers' works. It is very necessary to thoroughly and particularly study them.In order to arouse the more research to tanci-novel, The writer completely discuss The Destiny of Rebirth.In this article , The Destiny of Rebirth or original work denotes the work written by Chen Duansheng, continuation denotes the work written by Liang Desheng.In the introduction the writer distinguishes tanci from tanci-novel,and introduces present research on The Destiny of Rebirth.In the second chapter the writer discusses the female independent consciousness and its value in The Destiny of Rebirth. The protagonist, Meng Lijun was different from the very best women in the other works. She was a self-confident, self-respect, and self-sustaining woman. To disclose the truth that the excellent women were oppressed, Cheng Duansheng described the sad ending of the other best women Huangfu Zhanghua and Wei Yong'e. Cheng Duansheng thought that the woman should get away from to the imagination to the marriage and the male, and seek their own social status and happiness. The idea is precious and rare in whole Chinese classic literature .In the third chapter the writer studies artistic character of The Destiny of Rebirth. The mental state depict in The Destiny of Rebirth exceed the other Chinese classic novels. It gestated origin of modern novel "stream of consciousness". Chen Duansheng created many vivid,complicated and variational images. Because of skillfully applying of rhythm , the verses of The Destiny of Rebirth were very wonderful. The language of The Destiny of Rebirth was colloquial. Chen Duansheng largely used a special artistic technique in Chinese classic novels -"line drawing".In the forth chapter the writer research continuation written by Liang Desheng. In continuation, the tragedy became the comedy. The change is a retrogress on thought, but it made the work come down widely. Chen Duansheng very probably would write the marriage and family tragedy of Meng Lijun after the 17th volume. The tushery in the continuation make it slow and dull. Cheng Duansheng is a fluent writer, but Liang Desheng is not.In the epilogue the writer states the purpose of the thesis, and summarizes the conclusion.
