The discovery of the human being was the most brilliant episode in the May Fourth literary flowering and modern Chinese literature. As an important part of the May Fourth Humanist literature, children's literature also had achieved remarkable success during that time. Ye Shengtao and Bing Xin were the main representative writers in May Fourth children's literature. Their works for children not only showed their unique aesthetic values, but also led China's contemporary children's literature into a new era. Their efforts "for children" helped children to be recognized and respected as real human beings. They made the children's literature join into the May Fourth Humanist literature. In the history of China's modern literature, their modern characters and unique aesthetic values created a peak of children's literature, which has profound literary historic significance.Summing up their experience in children's literature, I think, their calls and preaching for "love" and "beauty" was the most remarkable characteristics. Based on that, this thesis is trying to discuss the following topics:1. The culture background of their works for children and the specialmeanings of their writing forms(types).2. The similarity of their writing inclination and aesthetic standards.3. The different individual characters between Ye Shengtao andBingXin's works for children.At last, I try to discuss what effects and meanings their works have left for a century's children's literature in China.
