Since Wang An-yi began her novel creation in the end of 1970' s, the number of her collected novels and independently published full-length novels has amounted to thirty, with the number of words exceeding 3.5 million. Such a brilliant accomplishment is remarkable for a young authoress. Wang An-yi is not only prolific in her novel production but also strict with the quality. Summing up her career of over 20 years, her creation is found to have undergone several changes not only in the development and originality of-her themes but also in the increasing maturity of artistic skills, which show her strong motive of reform. She dare to explore, and she is good at exploring. For her, exploration has fused into the concept of her whole literature conception.For such an author who has exerted such a great impact on contemporary literary world, the changes in her creative progress and the tendency in her work deserve a careful summary, however, most of the available reviews on her novels mainly focus on the periods of her creation, works and a certain of feature as the subject. Articles which makes a careful study on the overall change and its cause in her works are seldom seen. Considering Wang' s outstanding achievement in the literary circle and the above-mentioned characteristics of related critical essays, the writer of this paper believes it is necessary to sort out the evolution in the style of her creation and its suggestion and contribution to the Chinese literary circle, in order to discuss the success and failure in her creation. Subsequently a deeper exploration into some problems which are close to the nature of literature will be made.The whole article is divided into tow chapters: the first chapter mainly explains the history of Wang An-yi' s themes in her novel from the perspective of thematic development, and will further analyse some hotspot issue in the progress, so as to study the characteristics in her thematic variation and their history value. The second chapter makes a careful and detailed analysis on artistic features of her novels in order to reveal the self-consummate process of her artistic accomplishment and the contributions of her works to today' s literature circle.
