| "Wenqi "is a particular academic category under the system of literary theory in ancient China. It is difficult for us to define it with the concept of modern literary theory. There is not a category that is close or corresponds to it in the western traditional literary theory. Generally speaking,some views about "wenqi" lay particular emphases on the creative subject,some on works,and some on both.Taking the perspective of creative subject,"wenqi" is a question of cultivating and disciplining one's capacity for greatness in fact. Research findings of present academic circle mainly elaborate on some ancient literary theorist. Researchers commonly pay attention not only to the relationship between "wenqi" and moral cultivation of writers,but also to the relationship between "wenqi" and creative mood of writers. But in general,their expositions lack comprehensiveness,wholeness and thoroughness.Making a comprehensive survey on the contemporary literary world,we can seldom meet profound and influential works,it is because that most of writers would not give much consideration to cultivate their personalities. Cultivating and disciplining one's capacity for greatness not only includes the creative subject's cultivation in ethic and mental quality,but also in appreciation of the beautiful. To writers,it is the construction of moral personality,natural personality and artistic personality. From this point of view,"wenqi" is of keen realistic significance in cultivating the writers' personalities.In the field of modern literary theory,this essay tries to,comprehensivly and deeply,discuss the proposition between "wenqi" and cultivation of writers' personalities in historical and logical ways,on the basis of relative comments in academic circle.The full dissertation is divided into four parts.The first partrThe relationship between "qi" and personality. The category of "qi" has abundant,complex connotation,and is related to personality. From pre-Qin Dynasty and Two-Han Dynadties to WeiJin Dynasty,the meanings of the category of"qi" are preliminarily defined. "Qi" becomes an organic category in which material,spirit and ethics are compatible with each other. Under this condition,theory of "wenqi" gains abundant meanings. On the ontological level,"wenqi" refers to writers' qualities in physical,mental,and artistic cultivation,discovers the rule that creative subject determines works' aesthetic character,and causes writers to cultivate and crave their ability to create.The second part:Great moral force and Construction of moral personality. There is an excellent tradition that writer's morality is regarded as the fundament of the creation in ancient Chinese thesis. It believes that only one has high morality,his works will be excellent. Therefore,if one want to create excellent works,he has to cultivate great moral force and consciously construct moral personality.The third part:Tranquil force and cultivation of natural personality. In a state of tranquility,the writer can accumulate mental tension so as to prepare for artistic conception. Fundamentally,cultivating tranquil force can make the writer show unintentionally his naturalness,conserve his natural personality that is tranquil,noble,naive and free from vulgarity.The fourth part:Brilliance of mind and training of artistic personality. Most of ancient Chinese literary scholars think that only owning genius and brilliance of mind,can the writer produce excellent works. In the meanwile,they attach great importance to the effect of learning. They believe that learning can build up the brilliance of mind,can make up for the lack of the brilliance of mind.A great art must be the expression of a great personality. Therefore,if the writer want to produce excellent works,he should consciously cultivate and discipline his capacity for greatness,in order to conserve moral,natural and artistic personality. |
