By describing and analyzing the background of the Studio Glass Art Movement,the events during the course and some important glass studios,the thesis sorts out the form and language used in contemporary Glass Art.Based on the analysis,the fatal influence the Studio Glass Art Movement has made on contemporary Glass Art is expounded.The author puts related documents in order,aiming to reveal the cultural intention,value of contemporary Glass Art,which is an important form of the Modern Handicraft Art. Study shows that some factors emerged after the Industrial Rvevolution made it possible for the Studio Glass Art Movement to take place.These factors are the development of glass craft,the role of industry designer,the cultural background of the 1960's,and the success of studio glass experiment in particular. The development of glass art is motivated by studios,including studios in colleges and galleries,and artists'private ones as well.Though in different forms,allthe studios push the development of glass art forward.
