There was a new trend of thought in the literary world of Ming Dynasty which rise from the later period of JIA JING. Xu Wei just was one of the keymen who were in the initial stages of the development. And he was regarded as a pioneer of the school of GONG AN. So, it is important to grasp Xu Wei's influence and position in the course exactly.In this dissertation, the author puts Xu Wei at the cross-point of two historycourses--one is the intercourse of the Later-Ming Dynasty literature thought andthe individual lot of Xu Wei, the other is the literature evolvement from TangShunzhi's theory to the school of GONG AN's--to try to analyse the connotationof BEN SE LUN, and give a moderate estimation about Xu Wei's position and influence in the history of literature thought by using methods of literature and historiography.In Chapter One, the author firstly investigates the modern research mode of Xu Wei's poems and articles, and probes into the cause of the research mode. Then the author discusses in detail that the commentation which written by Yuan Hongdao was not accord with Xu Wei correctly and thinks that it was idealized and beautified.In Chapter Two, the author studies Xu Wei's mentality on three main aspects: individual ideal, life experience and realistic conditions. The dissertation thinks that there are two stages about Xu Wei's mentality and tries to describe his mentality vividly and finds out how it comes into being.In Chapter Three, the author surveys the academic origins of Xu Wei by means of reviewing his study experience. The dissertation deep analyses Xu Wei's academic thoughts and its cause. There are two main brilliant characters of his academic thoughts: l)giving priority to WANG XUE; 2) incorporating into the factors of other thoughts of diverse nature.In Chapter Four, the author discusses the connotation of BEN SE LUN and analyses Xu Wei's literary-style and his writing character detailedly. The dissertation expatiates Xu Wei's influence and position in the conversion of Later-Ming Dynasty Literary basing on the deep analysis of his writing character and cause. It emphasizes on the evolvement relations from Tang Shunzhi's BEN SE SHUO to the school of GONG AN's XING LING SHUO. The dissertation thinks that the medi-position of Xu Wei is just perorated in theory. But we could regard Xu Wei as one of milestones who were in the transition period of Ming academe if we discusse in logistic sequence.
