Honor And Violence

From the view of honor and violence in the American Old South,the article analyzes the influence of American southern culture on William Faulkner' s literary creation and discusses the artistic reappearance of honor and violence in his novels.Chapter One introduces the origin and development of people' s honor concept in the Old South and the manifestation of violence,expounding the cultural and psychological reasons for violence.Chapter Two studies the great influence of the southern culture on Faulkner and his works,conforming the closely linked relation between writer and his hometown.Finally,in Chapter Three,the article focuses on the honor and violence in Faulkner' s three novels and reveals the varied types of honor concept behind violence.
