The relations of Chuang-tzu and prehistoric myths are very intimate. Though a lot of scholars had talked the problem, the important significance of myths to chuang-tzu couldn't absorb their research intention, that is to say, exploring and explaining Chuang-tzu from mythical perspective had been on the verge of Chuang-tzu study all the way. Embodying the author's super wisdom, The book Chuang-tzu is broad and profound. Expressing his thoughts in the poetical way, Chuang-tzu text's style is romantic and marvelous. Many scholars try their best to shed new lights on the riddle. We think, the existence of many myths in Chuang-tzu is one of the important reasons why Chuang-tzu is unique in his times. In order to understand thoroughly Chuang-tzu, we must use the mythological method to interpret it.This dissertation take the relations of Chuang-tzu and prehistoric myths as its study's object, argues three problems about Chuang-tzu's thoughts and text. The main contents of this thesis are divided into three parts, in section one, I take the textual research about Chuang-tzu's mythical images in the past as my beginning, investigate myths and myth material in Chuang-tzu. From ?the existence of prehistoric myths of animals and plants, (2) the original myths reformed and used, (3) the scattered myth's material in Chuang-tzu, we can reveal its mythical source of material. In the next section, analysis Chuang-tzu 's thinking is a mythical thinking pattern in fact, and why it is. Chuang-tzu text's characteristics are influenced potentially by the thinking pattern, such as the undefined style, contradict oneself, etc. so we recognize the Chuang-tzu text more deeply than before.In the end, I study Chuang-tzu 's thoughts, from the idea of leaf and death and the ideas of nature and man, interpret the mythical source of its thoughts.
