Today, the development of Chinese movies has already entered a new phase, with more and more Chinese movies receiving a great deal of attention from the international movie circle. This thesis commences with the theme from contemporary Chinese movie creations ?human, especially starting off from a woman's point of view, combining theories and methods of traditional and contemporary Chinese film ait, based on greatly detailed character analysis thus discussing occurence and development of Chinese movie women's themes. From the above mentioned, an attempt to indicate about the Chinese movies heading towards the world is made. Beside the preface and conclusion, the contents of this thesis also includes 4 parts, namely, chapters 1,2, 3 and 4.Chapter 1 describes the effects of revolutionary changes in societal history on the modification of women's images, specially pointing out the differences between women from the past and present in the silver screen.Chapter 2 specifically analyses different images of women, of those whom bore a variation in historical culture connotations. The first part describes the different societal background and their reflections of cultural meanings taken place in the movies. The second part, a detailed movie analysis combination, from which a derivation of 3 types of women's images ideology, the bearer of fate and history, the challenger of survival and fate, and the extraordinary one in life.Based on Chapter 2, Chapter 3 brings the three types of elaborated women's ideology to women's images in the movies, from which deriving at three different typres of representation for the women's images. The first part points out Xie Jing allowing tragedy to overshadow on traditional female characters. The second part points out Zhang Yimou's favortism for red, using it to give female characters flamboyant vitality. The third part points out Chen Kaige using white to sacrifice the defiant female lead role as an offering to ancestors or gods.Chapter 4 rises the thesis to a high level with the previously mentioned examples, and puts them into a bigger environment in the Chinese movie circles, discussing the problem and perception triggerred off by the theme about women. This is also the most essential part of the thesis. The first part analyses the sexual oppression phenomenon inflicted to people through traditional moral ethics, emphasizing the rationality about the struggle made by those with sexual desire. Firstly, describing about the presentation for symbolic methods used in movies. Subsequenty, analysizing traditional cultural background, discussing views departing on tradtional perspection from those with sexual desire. Once again, highlighting the display of a few different images of people with sexual desire, from which reflects the changes in a director's creativity conciousness. Finally, summariTing a few movies that presents the clash of sexual mentality and moral ethics, they have different endings that lead to different thinking The second part concentrates on perception of two kinds sexual abnormalities phenomena ?perverted sexuality and sexuality perversion, at the same time, analysizing and evaluating their consequences.
