He is a famous writer who gains international prestige for his master book on environmental ethics. And on the basis of analyze of his theory we expound view of the practical significance and theory's defect and crisis of nonanthropocentrical environmental ethics theory. This article is composed of four parts. The first part is about the earth's environmental crisis , the background of environmental ethics and the develop of the sects of this theory .the second mainly about Holmes Rolston IE's environmental ethics theory ,the core of which is the Nature Value Theory. The third part demonstrate his theory's novelty and origin by the compare his theory with several important environmental ethics theory sects. The fourth part is a review of his theory's logical structure and the reality of his theory's can't beyond the anthropocentrically environmental ethic theory that the coexist peaceful ocoordinate evolution of man and nature ultimately depend on man and man's initiative. Holmes Rolston III's emphasis on the nature objective intrinsic value and underestimate the value of man is a help for this aim but not a fundamental way. Although his theory has its realistic importance: it alarms those shortsighted men who blindly stress the interest of man.
